A week in Portugal is a great way to see the traditional village atmosphere, historical and cultural heritage, hiking trails and sandy beaches of this gorgeous country.
We will stay in an authentic 18th century village located in the province of Lisbon. The village is 40 km from the center of Lisbon and 15 km from the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Located next to an extinct volcano, surrounded by mountains and completely immersed in greenery – a true authentic Portuguese oasis of calm. A mountain river flows nearby with a small but very picturesque waterfall and lagoon. Those places are famous for the special abundance of fireflies and the starry sky, unpolluted by any source of city light, so you will definitely have to experience what are the most beautiful and natural fireworks in the world.
Our accommodation will be in a traditional Portuguese house, in double rooms. According to old tradition, a bag with freshly baked bread will be hung on your door every morning and in the kitchen will always be some extra supplies of milk, cereal, butter and jam for the traditional breakfast. We will cook lunch and dinner ourselves, or we will eat in restaurants, in the cities we will visit (food delivery from local restaurant is also available).
Excursions to the magical Sintra with its royal castles, residences and the well where Masonic initiations took place, a day trip to Évora, visiting a chapel built from the bones of Capuchin monks, a dolmen, a stone field (Portuguese Stonehenge) and a stone obelisk – prehistoric megalithic structures. Hiking to an extinct volcano, relaxing day on Atlantic beach, Lisbon exploration, with a visit to the monastery built of white marble, where Vasco da Gama is buried – that is our plan for a Portuguese week.
